The advantages of new cd duplication technology

The methods of CD duplication have come a long way. It has been more than two decades since the advent of the CD, but CD duplication was not a feasible process for many people and businesses until recently. The tools to complete CD duplication on a small scale for Boston residents, or duplications in the thousands for Boston businesses, are now quite simple and cost-effective. The quality of CD production is also top-rate these days.

Many people remember making mixed tapes; this used to be the only way to reproduce music at home. For the first decade or so that CDs were available, CD duplication was not a reasonable process for the average consumer. At one time, CDs were read only discs, but the demand for CD duplication in cities like Boston and around the globe made an impact on the industry. Eventually, CDRs or CD-Recordable discs, made it possible for anyone with a computer to perform CD duplication. Boston businesses can easily turn to a Boston CD duplication service if they dont have the time to duplicate thousands of CDs themselves.

The concept of CD duplication is similar to photocopying. A laser is used to produce a duplicate. With CD duplication, a master disc can be used to make numerous copies in a short time span. The rate of CD duplication largely depends on the amount of data on the disc, the speed of the CD burner, the speed of the connection between the PC and CD burner, and the quantity of CD burners used.

A Boston CD duplication service will have a faster and more reliable computer system than most individuals and small businesses, so it is advantageous to go through one of these services for large-scale CD duplication. A CD duplication burner essentially functions as a photocopier that is either installed into the PC or in an external case. However, it can take a long time for a person to make thousands of copies on one CD burner.

The CD duplication burner uses a moving laser that interacts with a blank disc by giving off a strong light that burns data as dashes and dots on the recordable side of the disc. A blank CD is either a CD-R or a CD-RW, which is rewritable. A CD-R allows people to do a single CD duplication on the disk, but a CD-RW allows the disc to be erased and reused.  However the CD-RW may not be compatible with older CD drives.

A blank CD has a flat, smooth surface, which is made of two layers of polycarbonate plastic.  Sealed in between these two layers is a thin layer of reflective aluminum, and a layer of photosensitive dye which is burned in the CD duplication process. The dye is heated by a laser using a particular frequency during the CD duplication process.   This creates a spiral track of dots and dashes in the recording dye that your CD drive reads back as computer data or music.

After the CD duplication process, the disc has a surface with microscopically darker areas containing a binary digital pattern.  This will be interpreted as an exact copy of the data or music from the master source. If this sounds too complicated, a Boston CD duplication service can take care of any large or small-scale CD duplication needs.
