tScreenprinting For CDs And DVDs

CD screenprinting and DVD screenprinting Boston are the processes that set images and text on the surface of compact discs and digital video discs. When people think of screenprinting, they usually think of T-shirts and textiles, but the same procedure is used for CDs and DVDs. The screenprint process involves a thick layer of ink that is poured onto a stencil. The excess ink is scraped off, which forces the remaining ink through holes in the stencil and creates images on the surface of the disc.

There are numerous peculiarities involved with the CD screenprinting and DVD screenprinting Boston procedures that can affect the design. The standard line screen for screenprint images on disc is 85 LPI, which is the same as newspaper printing, although the LPI can go up to 100 with a slight risk of losing image detail. The thick applications of ink required for screenprinting can also make fine lines and details disappear, so printers must be careful when they spread the ink. The silver color of the discs also affects CD screenprinting and DVD screen-printing Boston, as opposed to printing on a white surface.

The same ink colors appear differently on the clear inner hub, the mirror hub, and the main silver surface of the disc, as well, so screenprinting professionals sometimes have to use different colors throughout. And screenprint designs with gradual fades from one color to another may reproduce poorly due to dot gain and tonal jump, which make colors darker and produce pronounced dots in the image. These factors do not prevent people from producing beautiful and clear images on their CDs and DVDs; they are only obstacles to get past.
